The INDX Sports & Leisure team will be back at West Midlands exhibition venue, https://www.cranmorepark.co.uk/ with another fast-paced edition of the industry’s business focused trade show on 6th – 7th December.
Visitor registration is now open for this energetic, innovation filled 2-day product showcase which will be supported by leading names including Brooks, Ronhill/Hilly, Mizuno, Zoggs, Craft/SKINS, Specialist Sports (Adidas), Babolat, Trespass, Pinpoint, The MAD Group (Fitness Mad), PTP, d3, Lionstrike, Sports Group Denmark, and Farrellys Sport.
As part of the INDX group of trade shows, which was established in 2013, INDX Sports & Leisure is organised by Associated Independent Stores (AIS), the UK’s leading buying and services group for Fashion, Home, and Leisure.
Alan Galloway, who is Head of the Sports & Leisure division at AIS, and leads the curation of the show, understands the challenges currently being faced by retailers and is confident that continuing to collaborate with industry leaders, and delivering a trend-driven product presentation, will be key to supporting their success:
“I work with a very passionate team at AIS who have a phenomenal wealth of combined market knowledge and product expertise. As part of our ongoing commitment to offer a platform of support to our AIS Members, we continue to work closely with trend forecasting agencies to ensure we track and respond agilely to market themes as they emerge.
“We approach each edition of the INDX Sports & Leisure show with the same focus, and our strategy is to offer visiting retailers the most up-to date product presentation from the most commercially relevant mix of brands.
“Since the Pandemic forced the closure of gyms and fitness studios and people took up outdoor exercise such as running, jogging, hiking, and swimming as a way of maintaining fitness, the demand for related product has remained high.
“Stocking state-of-the-art running shoe technology and complementary apparel, to dry robes, swimwear, and the latest recovery innovations will be key to pushing sales and generating revenue through 2023 and 2024 – and our brand selection at the next show will reflect that.”
INDX Sports & Leisure is curated specifically with buyers in mind, providing an unrivalled opportunity to network with key industry players, source products and meet potential suppliers in a professional, relaxed, and informal environment.
Attracting AIS department stores and garden centres, as well as independents, category specialists and e-tailers, the show is open to new and established retailers and Alan has some advice for anyone who falls into the former category or is thinking about entering the sports and leisure sector for the first time: “If you’re new to the business, keeping in touch with seasonal market and product trends will be crucial, but it’s also imperative to have a good never-out-of-stock selection of essentials and evergreen products, such as running shoes and football boots, which will sell all year round.
“It’s also important to consider your local community and support the needs of local teams and clubs. One of our AIS Members has found this approach particularly effective and has cultivated a reputation as a specialist running store, regularly hosting events to engage with the local community and build up a loyal customer base.
“In short, to win at sports retail, be authentic, innovative and build a genuine connection with your customers.”
