Target Darts 2016 summer launch day

SOME of the world’s leading darts players have launched Target’s new range of premium dart products.

The brand’s 2016 summer launch day, held at their Harlow HQ on July 26, saw over 100 new products released. They include the second generation Elysian, of which there are only 200 sets available in steel tip and 200 sets in soft tip, the Daytona Fire and Vapor 8, alongside shafts, flights and accessories to enhance existing ranges.

The new products are currently available to pre-order from Target’s retail partners with live sales launching at the beginning of September. One hundred and fifty guests from within the darts and sporting industries joined the Target team alongside their line-up of professional players; including 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor, two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis and previous World Masters and BDO World Champion Stephen Bunting.

Hosted by Sky Sports and PDC caller John McDonald, the event featured a presentation from International Sales Manager James Tattersall, taking guests through the new collection and explaining the concept behind each Target creation.

A key announcement was the second generation of the pioneering Elysian dart, a limited edition item retailing at £375. Elysian II builds on the demand of last year’s original, launched last July, and showcases brand-new technology and manufacture.

The Daytona Fire is developed from the Elysian and offers three different barrel sizes with two weights in each shape retailing at £95. The Daytona Fire is intended to allow a wider audience to indulge in a high-end product and comes complete with Target’s new Carbon TI shaft.

Ensuring the product range is balanced for players of all budgets, the Vapor 8 sees the lower price bracket of Target’s collection refreshed. At an entry-level price point, players can purchase an 80% Tungsten player-endorsed dart, including as standard Pro-Grip shafts, Vision flights and a protective darts wallet.

A further announcement was the release of Corona Vision, Target’s second addition to their LED dartboard lighting systems joining the popular Vision 360.
The Corona Vision is aimed at the home-use market and features four magnets for easy assembly. Made from high-density plastic rather than the robust steel of the Vision 360, Corona offers an entry-level lighting system at a competitive price. The product will retail at around £50 and be released early 2017.

Target MD Garry Plummer said: “We’ve been really excited to reveal our new releases with the industry.
“Having listened to feedback from our customers; we have expanded our product ranges to allow players of all abilities and budgets access to high quality Target darts and accessories.”

A live Q&A session with Target’s players followed the announcements, providing the audience with an exclusive insight into professional darts and Target products from the very best in the sport.

Rounding off the day’s events, the annual Pro-Am tournament gave fans the opportunity to play with the likes of Dave Chisnall, Tony O’Shea and Wayne Mardle.
Champions this year were Target’s youth player Shaun Lovett and successful young darts player, Jack Vincent.
