Inspired by the wedding dress designed by Wilson Sporting Goods Co. for Marta Kostyuk’s (WTA #18) big day, the new ‘Marta Dress’ is set to make its debut in the elegant and sophisticated backdrop of Wimbledon. This unique two-piece design features a technical base layer paired with a premium overlay, perfect for making a statement both on and off the court.
The journey began with Marta’s wedding proposal in March 2023. Joelle Michaeloff, VP Design at Wilson, quickly embarked on the project, working closely with Marta to capture her vision. Their collaboration saw meetings at the US Open to take measurements and explore different materials. These sessions transformed Joelle’s initial sketches into tangible prototypes. Marta then selected her top three choices and just ahead of the Beijing Open, Marta tried on a prototype and made final adjustments via FaceTime with Joelle. The result? A stunning wedding dress that Marta wore to tie the knot in Cyprus, with both her and her husband donning custom Wilson attire.
The elegance of Wimbledon provides the ideal stage for the unveiling of ‘The Marta Dress.’ This innovative design mirrors the sophistication of Marta’s wedding dress while incorporating functional elements for athletic performance. It symbolizes the perfect blend of style and sport, a testament to Wilson’s commitment to excellence. “Wilson has always supported my dreams on the court, but my relationship with the brand goes beyond tennis,” Marta expressed. The Marta Dress embodies this deep connection, showcasing the seamless integration of personal style and professional athleticism.
