The organisers of OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO have announced the event’s cooperation with GivenGain, ahead of the 13th anniversary race weekend on 23rd-24th March 2019.
GivenGain enables participants to set up personal fundraising projects for OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO in order to put their running efforts towards raising money for a chosen cause. It is both an effective way for the event to increase the total amount raised for charity and an easy way for runners to make a difference to others.
Some 15,000 runners will be heading to #RunLimassol next month and now is the perfect time to start fundraising with GivenGain. Raising money for charity can be a great incentive for runners in the final weeks of training and, with entry still open to all competitive races, it is added motivation for runners yet to sign up.
To date, GivenGain has helped to raise $34 million for over 2,200 charities in 193 countries worldwide. As a non-profit organisation itself, its mission is to help non-profits boost their fundraising income with tools that empower their supporters to fundraise on their behalf. The benefit to fundraisers is that they can take charge of their online fundraising while keeping administrative tasks to a minimum. Donations can then easily be received from friends and family via email, social media and WhatsApp.
OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO is one of Europe’s most recognised sporting events and is a popular choice for runners wanting a professional and friendly spring race. It is known for being flat and fast with a spectacular coastal route, magnificent views over the sparkling Mediterranean, beautiful spring climate and first-class hospitality.
Each year a large number of British runners head to Cyprus to enjoy a superb weekend away and a complete race experience. Many make the most of the excellent race packages on offer, such as the #RunLimassolPlus package which includes a 40% discount on race entry, official race technical t-shirt, the lowest accommodation rates, pasta party pass, finisher’s photo, race pack delivery to the hotel and transportation to the start line.
Race weekend kicks off with the PrimeTel 5K Corporate Race on Saturday 23rd March, following by the AIMS-accredited OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, Limassol Half Marathon, Petrolina 10K Energy Race and 5K City Race on Sunday 24th March.
OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO Race Director Andreas Spyrou commented: “We are delighted to confirm our cooperation with GivenGain to help runners at OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO start their fundraising journey. We want to make the process of fundraising as quick and easy as possible for our runners, whilst making our event more meaningful through increased donations to charity. There are just six weeks until race weekend and places are still available for anyone yet to join us for two superb days of running and entertainment.”
