After much speculation and rumour in the trade, Intersport has confirmed that the 60-store DW Sports chain has joined the group.
While the details of the deal with the Dave Whelan-owned retail chain have yet to be confirmed, Intersport and DW Sports have agreed in principle to the move, which is scheduled to be officially signed, sealed and delivered by April.
Members of DW Sports attended Intersport’s show last week, along with other new members Adrenalin Sport and Cliff Roe Sports, which departing general manager Barry Mellis described as the group’s best ever.
“The attendance and buzz around the two days has been exceptional, with brand offers and deals among the best ever available,” said Mellis, hosting his last Intersport show before Tom Foley takes over as general manager.
Among the deals announced was adidas’ exclusive New Predator package, which includes a special colour boot, apparel and ball.
This will be supported with national print advertising, local advertising, dedicated brochures and in-store support.
