ACA Sports makes charitable pledge to Fife cancer centre

Raith Rovers fans will be helping to care for local cancer patients if they opt to go away this season, thanks to ACA Sports

The club’s away shirt sponsor and long-term retail partner has pledged to donate £2 to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre in Fife for every pink away shirt sold.

“We are very proud to be the away shirt sponsors this year at Raith Rovers,” says Alistair Cameron, managing director of the Kirkcaldy based retailer (pictured centre).

“We have been retail partners with the club for a number of years and when the away shirt sponsorship arose we were delighted to take the opportunity.

“As well as donating £2 for every away shirt sold throughout the campaign, we will also be running a number of fundraising events throughout the year to help continue the fantastic work that takes place at the centre.”

Tu Edwards, community fundraiser at Maggie’s, adds: “Maggie’s Fife is delighted that ACA Sports and Raith Rovers have chosen to support Maggie’s by putting our logo on their kits and raising funds from the sales of their strips.

“No section of society is untouched by cancer, and our centre aims to help people affected by any kind of cancer to live the best life possible with, through and beyond the disease.

“Currently one third of our centre users are male, and we would like to see that figure rise.

“Having the footballers sport our logos on their strips is a great way of raising awareness among their loyal fans and greatly helps us to spread the word about the work we do in helping men, women, families, couples and carers to cope with the impact of cancer on their lives.”

Chris Lumsden, sponsorship development manager at Raith Rovers, says: “This deal further strengthens an already excellent partnership with ACA Sports and managing director Alistair Cameron.

“It is important that we recognise our position as a community club and the strength we have in the local area.

“We are no strangers to supporting charities, but this is the first time we will have one on our first team kit.

“We seen greater value in this partnership than any commercial opportunities that were open to us.”
