Specialist running store Advance Performance has taken the runners-up slot in the retail category of the British Small Business Champions Awards.
Organised by the Federation of Small Businesses, the BSBC Awards – for companies with under 50 employees – aim to celebrate and recognise the achievements and importance of the UK’s small business sector.
Despite not taking top spot, the judges were impressed by the 10-year-old Peterborough-based company. Last year’s winner, Heather Gorringe, managing director of Wiggley Wigglers, and now one of the BSBC judges, said: “Advance Performance really stood out from all the entries during the judging process. There presentations were excellent and they should not stand for second place but go for it again in 2008.”
Says Advance Performance’s managing director Samantha Hale (pictured): “It was an honour to be present at the gala dinner with Britain’s top small businesses. We have learned so much from the experience and we look forward to competing again next time.”
