Former Olympians Ryan Hall, Deena Kastor and Erben Wennemars will be among the athletes attempting to beat the sun around Mont Blanc in the time between sunrise and sunset on June 21.
The trio will be joined by British marathon runner Matty Hynes (pictured) and extreme obstacle racer Charles Franzke.
Also taking part are trail runners Megan Kimmel, Pablo Villalobos, Iaza Feitoza, Jonas Buud, Xavier Chevrier and David Le Porho.
They will be teamed with amateurs and allocated their intercontinental teams on May 25.
The eight intercontinental teams – each containing three amateur and three expert athletes – will have 15 hours, 41 minutes and 35 seconds to cover the 130km course.
Amateur runners who want to sign up for the challenge can register by joining the ASICS Beat The Sun online community at http://races.asics.com/beatthesun by April 24.
Beat The Sun will be broadcast live on ASICS’ digital and social channels, while video reports of the race will be distributed on various global networks.
