Open to everyone, no matter the age, race or creed – the ASICS FrontRunner community has members in over 30 countries. Now in its ninth year, the team will expand even more with 120 spaces being opened up to new members, taking the total to well over 700 runners.
The project, which began in 2010, has aspired to get the world moving through people’s shared passion of running. Ranging from beginners to top athletes, the unique collective of runners from across the globe all promote ASICS’ philosophy of ‘A Sound Mind in a Sound Body’ (Anima sana in corpore sano).
Swedish triathlete Lisa Nordén, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic games and is one of many top athletes in the community, said: “I really love that we all share the same passion for running. We might be on different levels but our love for movement is the same. I get so much inspiration from being a part of the ASICS FrontRunner team.”
The recent Coast to Coast adventure was one of the many incredible challenges conquered by the ASICS FrontRunner team. Members from seven different countries ran from Dubai to the Oman Coast in just four days, completing an exhausting 180km in a trip that truly showcased what the ASICS FrontRunner community is all about.
Available to view on February 17, the brand new documentary provides an in-depth look at their adventure, tracking the runners along every step of the journey from each excruciating blister to every energy-sapping sand dune.
Reflecting on the journey, South African ASICS FrontRunner Reegan Alward, said: “For me, running is a team event where no one gets left behind. We’ve all been there – we’ve all been the guy at the back, the one that gets helped out in one way or another. That’s the spirit of both running and ASICS in general.”
