Macesport, a specialist sports public relations, marketing and sponsorship agency, has appointed Ben Thompson (pictured) as media and communications manager.
Thompson, 28, who played rugby for Nottingham in National Division One last season, represented England Rugby at student and county level, and has also played cricket for Middlesex and his home county of Oxfordshire.
As well as making over 100 National League appearances in seven years for Nottingham, Thompson played a major role in raising the club’s profile in his role as communications manager at the club.
“I am delighted to have joined the team at Macesport and am very excited about the new challenges ahead,” says Thompson. “I have been passionate about sport from a young age and this is a wonderful opportunity. It was clear from my first meeting that the company is in an exciting stage of its development and expanding due to its innovative approach and wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of sport.”
Says Paul Mace, founder and managing director of Macesport: “Sport is our passion and our agency only employs people who share our drive and commitment. Ben’s first-hand knowledge of elite sport and his strong communication and organisational skills will further improve our service to our diverse range of clients in the sporting sector.
“Macesport are one of Britain’s fastest growing sports companies and the acquisition of Ben demonstrates our commitment to drive the company forward. At a time when many other companies are looking to downsize, our increasing client list enables us to embark on an expansion process.”
