Boaz Myhill named as first Football League Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove winner

Birmingham City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill (pictured) is the inaugural winner of the Football League Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove award for October.

Myhill, who is on loan at St Andrews from West Bromwich Albion, kept five clean sheets in October and conceded just one goal to take the prize, run in conjunction with The Football League.

The Wales international’s efforts between the posts helped Birmingham to four wins and a draw in October.

“To get any recognition as a player is something you cherish and it is something I will be keeping on the mantelpiece – I am delighted to be the first winner,” says Myhill.

“As a goalkeeper, you tend to get recognition when things don’t go well – the award is a great idea and hope I can win it again this season.”

The Precision Goalkeeping Golden Glove award is presented each month to the Football League goalkeeper who has kept the most clean sheets in all competitions.

There will also be an annual award in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 for the keeper that has kept the most clean sheets throughout the season in all competitions.
