British Weight Lifting selects Joymo to power National Championships live stream

Leading sports broadcast platform, Joymo, will stream British Weight Lifting’s flagship annual event – the British Championships 2022 – live from Derby Arena this weekend (January 29/30).

The partnership marks the first time the championships will be streamed online with every lift from the weekend broadcast live on the Joymo Arena platform.

Following a historic 12 months for British Weight Lifting, with British lifters securing medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 2021 World Weightlifting Championships and the World Para Powerlifting Championships, attention turns to domestic competition with more than 250 lifters going head-to-head across Senior, Masters and Para Powerlifting categories.

This year’s championships provide an added incentive for Home Nation weightlifters as they act as a key qualifying competition for July’s Commonwealth Games, which will be hosted in Birmingham.

Thanks to the partnership with Joymo, for the very first time weightlifting fans around the world will be able to watch every lift from every competition and weight class throughout the entire weekend, both live and on-demand.

The online stream can be accessed via the British Weight Lifting website or directly from Joymo, who operate a quick and simple sign-up process. An ‘All Access’ pass – providing live coverage of every lift from the Senior, Masters and Para Powerlifting competitions – is available for £18.99, with single day passes from £4.99.

Discussing the partnership, British Weight Lifting COO Kath Leonard, said: “We are really excited to be providing live lift-by-lift coverage of our flagship championships. Joymo’s streaming solution enables us to make the entire event available for fans to watch wherever and whenever they choose, in a single and easily accessible online destination.

“Live streaming our competitions is an important step in our aim to engage more people with the sports of weight lifting and para-powerlifting by making our elite-level competitions and athletes more accessible.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said: “Joymo exists to empower sports organisers and participants – at all levels – by providing them with the tools, resources and technology to broadcast directly to their fans and make sure that they never miss a moment of the sport they love.

“We are excited to help British Weight Lifting unlock and realise the value of their events and to make elite domestic competitions available to fans to watch anytime and anywhere via Joymo.”
Founded in Norway in late-2017, Joymo offers remote broadcasting solutions that enable federations, leagues and clubs to film or livestream training, matches, events or competitions in a safe, secure way.

In the 18 months, Joymo has successfully launched into the UK and Ireland and has partnerships in place with multiple partners, including the Sport and Recreation Alliance, Welsh Sports Association and Hockey Wales.
