Craft are official kit sponsors for the Commonwealth Games Welsh Cycling Team

Rising stars from the world of the Welsh cycling came together at the Newport Velodrome for the team presentation and unveiling of the all new Craft Team Kit for the Commonwealth Games which will take place on the Gold Coast of Australia from April 4-15, 2018.

The Athletes, Welsh Cycling Dignitaries, Press and invited Guests, including Welsh Rugby legend Shane Williams attended the launch for the official kit unveiling, an athlete Q & A and to experience riding the Newport track.

Fifteen track bikes and a number of Welsh cycling coaches were available for attendees to ride the track as well as watching the Pro Team take part in a demonstration training session.

Shane Williams is heading out of the Rugby arena this year and competing in his first Ironman competition and will also be supported by the cycling team’s official kit partner, Craft Sportswear UK.

The new Welsh Cycling Craft Team Kit range includes the EBC Aero Short sleeve Jersey; advanced bodymapping jersey, made of four different cooling fabrics for optimal function, freedom of movement and aerodynamics; Advanced bib shorts with great fit and support. Developed together with World Tour riders; EBC TT Suit Long Sleeve – High-speed suit with ergonomic shape for a perfect TT-riding-position fit.

Following the success of the Welsh cycling team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Craft will be the official kit sponsor once again for Welsh Cycling.

Paige Michaels, Craft Sportswear UK, said: “Craft and Welsh Cycling have built up a good relationship over the years, and it was a great pleasure to be asked to design and make the kit once again. We wish them every success in these games.”

Matt Cosgrove, Performance director at Welsh Cycling, said: “The riders were really pleased with their kit at the Glasgow 2014 commonwealth games, and we are delighted that Craft are able to offer them kit once again this year.

“The riders were given a great send off on Monday in Newport and now we’re looking forward to heading for the Gold Coast on the 23 March for 3 weeks of intensive competition. We have a great team in 2018 which includes a mix of experienced and young riders. We have some amazing medal prospects and an impressive developing team.”
