Despite their recent relegation to the 2. Bundesliga, 1. FC Köln has seen an extraordinary demand for their new jerseys. The club, in collaboration with kit partner hummel, has announced that the 2024/25 away jersey has reached a record-breaking sales milestone, making it the best-selling away jersey in the club’s history.
Even though 1. FC Köln dropped out of the top tier of German football this summer, demand for their jerseys has only increased, with the away jersey being particularly well-received by fans.
According to the club and its kit partner hummel, the away jersey has now set a new all-time sales record, becoming the best-selling away kit in the club’s history, with sales up by 54 percent compared to the same period last year.
“We are excited to see such an overwhelming response from our fans. This record-breaking achievement is a testament to the unwavering loyalty of our supporters, who are by our side no matter what happens. It also highlights the strength of our partnership with hummel, which has resulted in a design that resonates deeply within the FC-community,” said Markus Rejek, Managing Director of 1. FC Köln.
The 2024/25 away jersey draws inspiration from 1. FC Köln’s kits of the late 80s and early 90s, combining nostalgic design with modern elements. The standout ray pattern in shades of red, edged in white, centres around the embroidered FC badge, while hummel’s iconic chevrons on the shoulders complete the updated retro look.
“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate this remarkable milestone with 1. FC Köln. Setting a new sales record, particularly in a season following relegation, is a testament to the passion and loyalty of the fans. Their dedication is truly exceptional and demonstrates the deep connection between the club, the city, and its community. We’re thrilled to be part of this success and look forward to the exciting journey ahead with this fantastic club,” said hummel’s Marketing Director, Morten Lund.
Both hummel and 1. FC Köln have mutually agreed not to disclose specific sales figures.
