Equipio.com adds video content to further enhance shopping experience

Equipio.com, the sports social shopping website, has added more than 5,000 sports videos to its site to further enhance the shopping experience for visitors.

The new content enables shoppers to watch a video and click through to information about the products, pros or brands featured.

Users can also comment on the videos, share them on Facebook or Twitter and add them to their ‘favourites’ within their Equipio.com profile.

Equipio.com founder Charlie Greenwood believes that video is becoming central to the online shopping experience: “We’ve already seen huge demand for online video among our visitors – visitors who watch a video on our site view 33 per cent more pages than those who don’t – and we expect that making it easy to click from a product shown in a video straight to the purchase page will further increase consumer engagement and conversion rates.”

The video content also includes exclusive ‘What’s in your sports bag’ interviews with professional athletes, which provide an insight into their ‘must have’ products.

Recent names to have participated include Kelly Sotherton, Helen Clitheroe, Mark Schwarzer, Danny Care, Ugo Monye and Owen Farrell, as well as celebrities such as Channel Five news’ Emma Crosby and Matt Barbet.

“Many top athletes are contractually obliged to wear a particular brand of clothing or footwear, but these products are the tools of their trade – they wouldn’t use them if they didn’t like them,” says Greenwood, a former head of strategy at Nike UK.

“Why do they use one shoe rather than another? Which training watch couldn’t they live without? Why did they choose to wear that base layer? What products do they use in competition as opposed to training?

“These videos provide real insights for aspiring athletes and those who want to up their game – and it will help them discover new and exciting sports gear.”
