Fred Kerley announces investment in CXP following World Championship glory

Technical sports underwear brand CXP has today announced that Fred Kerley, the recently-crowned 100m World Champion and current Olympic silver medallist, has become a shareholder and strategic advisor to the brand.

The announcement follows Kerley’s recent dominance at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon which saw him win the men’s 100 metres in 9.86 seconds and be crowned the fastest man in the world – all whilst wearing a bespoke pair of CXP’s Core XP performance underwear.

Following this success, and after months of behind-the-scenes testing and training, Kerley has officially purchased a stake in the company, founded in Birmingham, UK, in 2020.

In a sport where marginal gains can be crucial – Kerley edged out compatriots Marvin Bracey and Trayvon Bromell by just 0.02 seconds to become World Champion – the Texan was quick to identify the benefits of wearing specialist sports underwear to aid his performance and became one of the first athletes in the world to put CXP’s products to the ultimate test.

Following his investment, Kerley will continue to work closely with the brand’s research and development team to create a series of products that enable elite level athletes to perform on the biggest stage. CXP products feature pressure regulation for optimal performance along with first-of-its-kind patented C-Cut™ Technology designed to aid performance, recovery and rehabilitation. Backed by leading independent testing and research, its multi-panel sports waistband distributes pressure evenly and allows for a more stable core, meaning athletes can work harder for longer whether they are training or racing.

Kerley said: “CXP have been extremely important in my journey. The brand focused on the small details that I feel a lot of track and field athletes ignore, and those small details allowed me to get to the next level”

“I have always believed in myself, CXP also has the same underdog mentality that I have in me. When no one believed in me CXP did.”

Tom Austin, founder of CXP, added: “It is a great honour to officially welcome Fred to the CXP team. We’ve had a great relationship with Fred and his team since we first started working together before the Tokyo Olympics and we are so proud to now have the quickest man in the world sharing his insights and working alongside us.

“For too long now, professional athletes have been asked to perform at the highest level whilst wearing underwear from a fashion brand or with no performance functionality. We believe that the sports underwear market has been historically undervalued and overlooked and so our aim has always been to disrupt that world by creating a product which is steeped in testing and research and aids athletes in their performance and recovery.

“We are proud to have supported Fred’s hard work and training by providing the best possible product we can. Him coming on board to join the CXP team officially is the best endorsement we could ask for and Fred will play a crucial role going forwards in helping to further develop our product range and ensure that CXP continues to lead the market in sports performance and training underwear.”

All CXP products feature independently-tested, patent-protected technology which regulates pressure and provides unrivalled compression benefits and stability during high intensity exercise, whilst reducing the burden on the wearer. Its range is upto 35% lighter than competitor brands to allow for a wider range of movement and encourages natural muscle movement for optimal performance and recovery, whether you are a World Champion sprinter or just looking to improve your 5km PB.

The Core XP, worn by Fred Kerley, and all other CXP products are now available to purchase from www.cxpofficial.com
