Gaël Monfils becomes ASICS ambassador

French tennis player Gaël Monfils (pictured) has become ASICS’ latest tennis ambassador.

The former world number seven and four time ATP tournament winner has signed a multi-year contract and will begin wearing ASICS footwear and apparel from the beginning of the 2013 tennis season.

Monfils will also feature in the company’s 2013 advertising campaign.

He will appear in print ads, on in-store material and in an online film (http://www.youtube.com/ASICSvideo/) in which he discusses his personal journey of improvement and the importance of staying positive.

In addition, Monfils will be involved in the development of future ASICS tennis collections, providing input on the requirements of top level players and giving feedback to the company’s design teams.

“Gaël Monfils is an outstanding player with great athleticism, an attractive playing style and a determination that reflects ASICS’ own ambition to become the number one brand in tennis,” says Motoi Oyama, ASICS’ global president and CEO.

“We have a long history of innovation in tennis footwear and apparel and we are glad to have added a global tennis star who will bring worldwide exposure for our brand.”
