Grenade, a leading brand of active nutrition snack bars and drinks, has appointed Ben Clarke as chairman.
In his new role, Clarke will oversee the development of the company and liaise closely between shareholders and senior management.
Clarke said: “I am delighted to be joining the Grenade team at such an exciting point in the journey. This business is enjoying exceptional growth and I look forward to working with the Grenade and Lion team to take the business forward to the next level, both in the UK and internationally.”
Clarke brings substantial global experience in growing food brands from more than 20 years’ working in the industry. From 2009–2016, he led Burton’s Biscuit Company as CEO under private equity ownership, during which time he oversaw the transformation of the business and its subsequent sale to a Canadian pension fund, as well as the successful sale of the Cadbury business to Mondelez International.
Before that, Clarke spent 15 years working for Kraft Foods in various senior management roles, including area director for Australia/New Zealand and Area Director for UK/Ireland.
Alan Barratt, co-founder and CEO of Grenade, said: “Ben’s appointment is an exciting step forward for us, and we look forward to working with him to drive the business to the next level. His experience working with and growing food brands on a global scale will be hugely valuable to us as we continue to grow.”
