Hilly recently sponsored a local road race, organised by events promoter David Denton, which raised over £480 and will allow Denton to offer further support to poor families in India via his charity IDEAS (International Development
Through Education and Sport).
The money will be used to support three poor families via a monthly allowance for food and education of their children, as well as adding to the funds to organise an annual race, started by Denton some years ago.
All of the children competing in the race receive a new schoolbag and pen, and winners in the adult’s races receive a few rupees, which in many cases is equivalent to a month’s salary.
Funds from Denton’s charity now enables him to support 32 poor families and also key projects such as building wells for fresh water and medical care.
“I have personally known David for many years and am so proud that we are able to support some of the many races that he organises each year, especially for such a worthwhile cause,” says Graham Richards, Hilly’s brand director.
