hummel and Sunderland unveil new 2024-25 home kit

Rekindling an iconic alliance first born in 1988, hummel and Sunderland AFC have today unveiled the club’s new home kit for the 2024-25 season – a testament to their shared history and a bright future on Wearside.

The new kit celebrates the iconic red and white stripes that are synonymous with Sunderland’s heritage. This year’s design honours the city’s profound shipbuilding roots, with all-over stripes inspired by the club’s historical crest and archival images of shipyards and vessels adorning the inner back neck. The phrase ‘From the banks of the River Wear’ is elegantly scripted on the inside collar, embodying the spirit of the city.

Subtly placed on the outer back neck, the coordinates of the Stadium of Light symbolically anchor the shirt to Sunderland’s modern era while bridging connections with its illustrious past.

Throughout history, Sunderland and hummel have shared numerous milestones—from a late ’80s rise to the First Division to an unforgettable 1992 FA Cup run. Between 1988 and 1994, hummel designed kits that captured the essence of the era and became icons of the club’s history.

This unparalleled collaboration, 36 years in the making, is nearly ready for fans to claim as their own. The home shirt will be available for purchase online starting at 8 am on Friday, June 28.
