INTERSPORT Group retail sales break €10 billion barrier

The INTERSPORT Group increased retail sales by nine per cent to €10.1 billion last year, thanks to strong football, outdoor, running, fitness and winter sports sales.

The retailer’s own brands realised €1.8 billion, raising their share in the group’s total retail sales to 18 per cent.

INTERSPORT opened stores in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Korea in 2010, bringing total doors to 5,320 in 39 countries worldwide.

However, the retailer said more modest increases are expected for 2011.

Says Franz Julen, CEO IIC – INTERSPORT International Corp: “2010 was a record year for our group. Our strategy has proven its effectiveness once more.

“The strong brand and our business model, combining a uniform international approach and standards on the one hand and leaving enough room for national adaptations on the other, grant us a very close proximity to the consumers.”
