Kempa has donated €7,500 to HANDBALL AID, which raises funds for German charity Deutsche Krebshilfe.
The handball brand has given a percentage of profits from sales of its European Championships Collection to the organisation, which cares for and treats people suffering from cancer.
“The social commitment shown by companies is of great importance to Deutsche Krebshilfe,” says Gerd Nettekoven, the charity’s chief executive.
Alongside leisurewear, balls, kit bags and accessories, the big hit in the European Championships Collection has proved to be the Shocker shoe, which was created specially for the tournament and worn by all Kempa sponsorship partners during their matches.
“Our players and teams were all equally pleased to be able to support us in this campaign for a good cause,” says Melanie Steinhilber, head of marketing and sponsorship at Uhlsport GmbH, which owns Kempa.
“They showed their support for this cause by giving up their individuality regarding personal shoe preferences, and that’s not something you can take for granted, so we’re all the more pleased.”
