IMG have launched a national campaign, ‘Live To Tri’, to attract first timers to triathlon and help them overcome the initial hurdles often associated with trying the sport for the first time.
As event organisers of two of the largest triathlons in the UK – The Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon and The London Triathlon – IMG’s research has highlighted the concerns around training needs and lack of understanding around the different distances which the campaign and platform aims to overcome.
Since the recent success of the GB triathlon squad at the Rio Olympics and the sportsmanship demonstrated by the Brownlee Brothers in Mexico, there has never been a better time to turn people’s curiosity into action and help them enter one of the fastest growing communities in UK sport.
Marc Webster, Head of IMG Mass Participation Sports EMEA, said: “Triathlon as a sport has grown from strength to strength in the past few years, but there are still plenty of people out there who are intimidated by it.
“Mistakenly people believe you have to be a great athlete already or that you need lots of specialist equipment just to sign up – we want to help people realise that triathlon really is for everyone and you tri journey can start tomorrow, either in your local swimming pool or taking on your first run.
“We’re proud to have two of the most well-known triathlons in the UK including the world’s largest, The London Triathlon, and we’re confident that our ‘Live to Tri’ campaign and platform will help identify both a unique experience and challenge for those established triathletes or those at the start of their triathlon journey who need some support along the way..”
