Mitre has signed a two-year sponsorship contract with Australian and Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. The deal will see Mitre supply Schwarzer with goalkeeping gloves and football boots until July 2011.
Mitre has worked in collaboration with the goalkeeper to develop his ideal glove and boot – and both will feature his name.
Says Schwarzer: “I am thrilled to be part of the Mitre family, they have a great tradition in football and I look forward to working with them over the next two years. I have enjoyed working closely with their design and technical teams on these fantastic goalkeepers gloves and football boots. I have never had a pair of boots with my name and signature on – they are superb.”
Says Mitre managing director, Gary Hibbert: “We are excited and proud to have such a high calibre goalkeeper on board with the brand, and look forward to watching him represent his country at the 2010 World Cup next year. He has not only been a key player for the Socceroos this year, but he also had a fantastic season at Fulham FC, being honoured with Fulham Player of the Year 08/09, which shows his outstanding achievements at the club.”
