Sports Direct chief executive Dave Forsey has resigned.
The Board of Sports Direct made the surprise announcement yesterday.
Forsey has also resigned as a director of the Company.
Founder and majority shareholder, Mike Ashley, has now taken over the role of chief executive.
In a statement, Ashley said: “I feel like I have lost my right arm, but I do hope to have the opportunity to work with Dave again in the future.”
Forsey had been with the company for 32 years, starting as a part-time worker when he was an 18-year-old.
Forsey said: “I have given my entire working life to the company and in return the company has given me amazing opportunities and experiences.
“I wish everyone at Sports Direct well in the future.”
