British outdoor clothing and equipment brand, Montane, has made advancements in the responsible waterproof jacket category with its release of Solution.
Built to showcase Montane’s increasingly considered approach, the Solution waterproof jacket has been introduced as an integral part of the outdoor brand’s ‘shell’ collection in SS24.
Every aspect of its build has been carefully thought out to ensure optimal performance, whilst adopting more responsible materials including its use of recycled Pertex Revolve fabric [100% face fabric, 75% membrane, and 100% backer], a PFC-free DWR, and progressive use of trims such as YKK Natulon zips which use recycled tape.
Product longevity is further championed by the solution dyed plain weave face fabric. The use of this technology, where the colour pigments have been mixed with raw recycled polyester pellets, results in the jacket being permanently colourfast to washing and sunlight due to the colour being completely integrated into the yarn. Using this technology can reduce the water and energy consumption in addition to producing fewer CO2 emissions.
On the innovation, Montane’s Marketing Director, Matthew Hickman, commented: “As a lightweight, durable, and timeless product, our Solution Jacket embodies simplicity and doesn’t compromise on product performance or aesthetics. Through the jackets’ permanent relevance, colour, and ease of repair via our UK repair service, we can extend its lifetime and continue to build on our journey to reduce our impact.
“After many years in the making, the motivation behind the Solution is rooted in our brand mission; to enable a journey through nature whilst knowing our impact and correcting our path. It’s an important step forward for Montane and the industry, and clearly represents our progressive efforts towards corporate responsibility.”
The feature set of the Solution Jacket includes appropriately placed vented storage with recycled inner pocket mesh, providing dual function front pockets that also adapt into large front venting for improved breathability and temperature regulation. A front adjustable hood with a reinforced peak and pre-elasticated back offers an exceptional fit and cover, with a raised collar providing both protection and comfort.
Furthermore, the addition of sleeve articulation adds comfort and dynamic movement; a hook and loop cuff adjustment provide protection against wind and rain; and fully adjustable hems with recycled trims minimise heat loss (as well as keeping out wind and rain).
For transparency, in-depth material details including third party accreditations, and where the jackets are produced, have been made available.
The Solution Jacket is available for purchase at www.montane.com and at selected retailers.
