Montane secures bluesign System Partner status

British outdoor clothing and equipment brand, Montane, has gained bluesign System Partner status, as part of the brand’s journey to reduce its environmental impact and increase transparency.

The accreditation is awarded only to those that meet the strict safety and environmental requirements of the bluesign criteria, with Montane committing to using only bluesign APPROVED fabrics, trims and accessories that are free from potentially hazardous chemicals. The partnership also provides Montane access to a database of suppliers to support this.

The move is another step in Montane’s ongoing environmental commitment and reinforces its Further. Forever. ethos, which incorporates ethical trading and a commitment to making responsible choices that reduce the brand’s environmental impact, while striving to find the best possible technical solutions that balance compliance, weight, durability, and performance.  Montane will now be able to identify which fabrics and trims are bluesign APPROVED, while the brand also works to highlight products that qualify as bluesign PRODUCTS to provide further clarity on an item’s sourcing background.

Speaking on the announcement, Montane’s Marketing Director, Matthew Hickman, commented: “At Montane we are committed to reducing our environmental impact by making responsible and ethical choices, and place great importance on the transparency of our supply chain.  Achieving bluesign System Partner status means we can be confident that no harmful substances are being used in our production processes. This is the latest step in our ongoing journey to lessen our environmental impact and create a brighter and more responsible future for generations to come, as we encourage everyone to go Further. Forever.”

The development comes after Montane recently published its first business Impact Report, which highlights the brand’s 2023 initiatives that drive a positive impact across three key areas; people, product, and planet, and outlines the evolving nature of the business over three decades in the outdoor industry while presenting plans toward a continued responsible future.
