Inspired by the Royal Wedding and London Marathon fever in the capital, New Balance has launched a new Facebook page tailored specifically to the needs of British runners, which can be found at facebook.com/newbalancerunninguk.
Providing features, videos, images, product launches, special offers and all the latest news from the brand’s factory in Flimby, Lake District, the page proudly flies the Union Jack as its profile picture, and, fittingly, will launch an exclusive giveaway ahead of the Royal Wedding on April 29.
From today (April 13) New Balance will begin a search for running couples named Kate and Will to win an extra-special pair of commemorative trainers, only 10 pairs of which will ever be produced.
Namesakes of the Royal couple will be invited to submit their photographs to the page for the chance to win the limited edition shoes, which will be handmade for each winner.
The shoes will also come complete with personalised ‘Will’ and ‘Kate’ embroidery, providing a rare memento of the auspicious occasion for New Balance Facebook followers sharing names with the royal couple.
Runners will get an early opportunity to register with the Facebook page at the London Marathon Expo, which takes place at the city’s ExCel centre on April 13-16.
As an added incentive, the first 1,500 visitors to sign up at the New Balance stand will also receive an exclusive goody bag, containing a water bottle and pen.
With an expected 70,000 visitors due to visit ExCel over the course of the four-day exhibition, New Balance running ambassadors will also be on hand to offer their help and advice to participants ahead of the big race on Sunday, with exclusive offers on footwear and apparel, plus a free New Balance holdall with every pair of shoes purchased.
In addition, runners will be able to take advantage of free gait analysis.
“We’re proud to fly the flag as the ‘Made in the UK’ running brand, and we’re delighted to be launching our New Balance Running UK Facebook page at a time of great excitement, both for British runners at the London Marathon and also for the country as a whole with the upcoming Royal wedding,” says Mark Ward, country manager for New Balance UK and Ireland.
