Net income for the period ended August 31 increased 23 per cent to $962 million (approximately £590 million).
While revenues were up significantly, Nike said selling and administrative expense increased 21 per cent to $2.5 billion.
‘Demand creation’ cost the company $897 million (approximately £550 million), up 23 per cent compared to the same period in 2013, mainly because of marketing investment in the World Cup.
Future orders look healthy for the brand, with footwear and apparel scheduled for delivery from September 2014 to January 2015 11 per cent higher than orders reported for the same period last year.
