Nike has “great first quarter” with growth in every region except China

Growth in every region except China meant Nike’s fiscal 2013 first quarter net income rose sharply by 38 per cent to $780 million (approximately £484.5 million).

Revenues for the period to August 31 increased eight per cent to $7 billion (approximately £4.35 billion).

“We had a great first quarter driven by our unrelenting commitment to delivering innovative products and services around the world,” Mark Parker, president and CEO of Nike, says.

“Our powerful portfolio of businesses, combined with unmatched leadership and resources allows us to capitalise on opportunities that drive long-term value for our shareholders.

“I am more excited than ever about our potential to continue to innovate with purpose and fuel Nike’s growth.”
