Odlo has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) as its first Swiss brand and the first representative of the sports industry.
Odlo will use the group’s sustainability measurement tool, the Higg Index, to drive environmental responsibility across its supply chain.
With its membership in the SAC, Odlo joins over 170 global brands, retailers and manufacturers, as well as government, non-profit environmental organisations, and academic institutions, which are collectively committed to improving supply chain sustainability in the apparel and footwear industries.
In its relationship with the SAC, Odlo will contribute both data and resources to support the Higg Index, which gauges sustainability and drives supply chain decision-making to better efficiency and sustainability impact.
The Higg Index is an open source, indicator-based tool that allows suppliers, manufacturers, brands and retailers to evaluate materials, products, facilities and processes based on environmental and product design choices. Sustainable action has been anchored in Odlo’s corporate vision from the beginning.
The company’s three core values are responsibility, action and transparency and reflect Odlo’s philosophy.
As a high-quality Swiss company with Norwegian roots and a strong family tradition, sustainability is very important to the company.
Andrea Gerber, sustainability manager at Odlo, said: “Joining the SAC leads Odlo one step further on the path to a sustainable future. The holistic approach of the HIGG Index supports us in assessing strengths and weaknesses in our sustainability activities and launching corresponding improvement measures. At the same time, we are part of a large network within the global textile industry.”
Jason Kibbey, Coalition CEO, said:. “Having Odlo as part of the Coalition widens the scope of our impact within the apparel industry and accelerates the change we’re making towards responsible industry actions.”
