Pulse Fitness has signed up Paralympic medal-winning canoeist Ian Marsden as their newest ambassador.
Ian, who powered his way to bronze at the Rio Olympics, has been involved in sport from a young age. Having started out as a powerlifter, he suffered a life-changing spinal injury which left him using a wheelchair.
With typical determination, he then turned his attention to hand cycling, before taking up rifle shooting, missing out by a whisker on a place at London 2012. Undeterred, Ian turned to the water where he combined aspects of his first two sporting loves – powerlifting and handcycling – in one explosive sport – canoeing. In 2016, his tireless efforts were rewarded when he won bronze in the 200m canoe sprint at the Rio Olympics.
Ian is the perfect fit as a Pulse ambassador. He has long championed accessibility within the fitness arena, which sits perfectly alongside Pulse’s own ongoing commitment to inclusive fitness. Pulse Fitness is the leading Inclusive Fitness accredited fitness equipment supplier with 24 products accredited to stage 2.
Ian said: “Having been involved in sport and physical activity from a young age, both as an able-bodied person and someone with a disability, I know how difficult it can be for someone with a disability to step into a gym environment.
“I am delighted to become Pulse’s newest ambassador as they are truly paving the way when it comes to creating fitness equipment for those with a disability. I’m looking forward to supporting them and working together to create more opportunities for those with disabilities.”
Ian will be supporting Pulse nationwide, inspiring those with disabilities and driving awareness through various events and appearances.
Mo Chaudry, Chairman of The Pulse Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Ian Marsden as an ambassador for Pulse Fitness. We are truly inspired by the determination he has as an athlete and his passion for creating more opportunities for those with a disability. As the leading IFI accredited equipment manufacturer, ensuring we can provide opportunities for those with disabilities is a very important issue to us. Ian’s expertise and knowledge will help inform the way we create our equipment.”
Ian joins The Pulse Groups growing ambassador programme which includes Dame Kelly Holmes and World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall.
