Iconic British cycle brand, Raleigh, joined the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in London for the launch of UK Bike Week on Wednesday, June 6.
Raleigh MD Pippa Wibberley said, “ We are delighted to be supporting this event in the run up to National Bike Week and hope we can inspire more people to take to their bikes throughout the week and beyond.”
In keeping with this year’s ‘Cycle to Work’ theme, a breakfast group was hosted by TV personality Jeremy Vine, followed by the annual All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group Bike Ride, which covered a three mile cycle ride through London from the embassy in Hyde Park Gate to Westminster (complete with police escort).
Participants rode a number of cycle and pedal assisted e- bikes supplied by Raleigh, including: Raleigh Array, Raleigh Strada Elite, Raleigh Stoweway, Raleigh Mustang, Raleigh Motus Crossbar and the Raleigh Motus Grand Tour.
At Westminster, Jesse Norman MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport) spoke in the House of Lords on the current government initiatives on cycling. The ride included key cycle campaigners and advocates from CyclingUK, Sustrans and LCC, as well as industry representatives from the British Bicycle Association.
