Ricky Chandler (pictured), managing director of the STAG Buying Group, is walking the Inca Trail for charity in April.
Ricky will be raising money for the Guillain-Barré Syndrome Support Group, which offers support and information to those affected by Guillain-Barré Syndrome, CIDP and other dysimmune neuropathies throughout Britain and Ireland.
Ricky’s brother died of GBS in 1998.
“One happy night in Bristol, while enjoying a few pints of cider, my good friend Graf Hayward suggested I join him hiking up to Machu Picchu,” says Ricky.
“Had it not been for the cloudy cider, I probably would have said no!
“I am now enduring weekends full of long walks while looking forward to this adventure, especially as my son Joe is also now joining myself and Graf.”
Ricky adds: “If I survive the close encounters with crocs and giant spiders in the rain forest, I will have the opportunity of walking 26 miles uphill to a height of 14,000 feet to reach Machu Picchu.
“While I am enjoying the scenery and trying to breath, I thought I would earn some money for a very good cause.”
