Online sports retailer Kitbag has confirmed that former Welsh international footballer Robbie Savage will be its first UK brand ambassador.
Savage, currently a football pundit for 606 on Radio 5 live, has signed a one-year agreement to be the face of Kitbag and will feature in the brand’s latest PR campaign for Christmas gift ideas.
Over the next 12 months he will also be reviewing the latest products for the website, taking part in a number of live Q&A sessions and hosting exclusive events for Kitbag customers.
And with over one million followers on Twitter, Kitbag is hoping to utilise Savage’s fan base to attract more customers.
“Robbie is a sports star who resonates with sports fans and followers and will help us build our reputation across the sporting landscape,” says Andy Anson, CEO of Kitbag.
“His sense of fun and style will enable us to open a dialogue with a broader range of customers.”
Savage adds: “It feels like an obvious partnership for me, given my background as a professional sportsman.
“As a former footballer and a father of young children, I take a great interest in the latest sports products on the market and also keep my eye on sporting fashion trends, so Kitbag caters for both me and my family.”
Kitbag now operates the retail business and online stores for a number of football clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid, as well as Formula 1, Wimbledon, the NBA, the NFL and the Ryder Cup.
