The founder of the eponymous running brand (pictured), who has competed in more than 100 marathons and raced in 100 different countries, was the principal speaker at the launch event on April 3 at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough.
Runners were encouraged to attend to find out about new additions to the race, which is already on course to be another record breaker.
In 2013 the half marathon attracted its highest number of runners, with almost 5,200 people entering the race and more than 1,700 signed up for the Anna’s Hope fun run.
New for 2014 is the introduction of race pacers, who will help runners achieve their best possible time on race day.
In addition, organiser Peterborough City Council will announce details of a new opportunity for local bands and solo artists who can apply to perform on the running route and on the Embankment where the race starts and finishes.
The 2014 Perkins Great Eastern Run takes place on October 12.
