Rugby LA announces Hytro as official BFR research supplier

Major League Rugby’s newest addition, Rugby LA RFC, has unveiled an innovative partnership with Hytro, the leading Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) wearable.  Solidifying their intentions to progress quickly in the league, the team will welcome Hytro as the team’s official BFR research supplier.

With Hytro having extensive success across Europe’s biggest rugby leagues, this dynamic collaboration is set to delve into the untapped potential of Blood Flow Restriction training, with a specific focus on enhancing power adaptations and sustaining power levels during the in-season for elite rugby players. This groundbreaking study, spearheaded by Lucas Baistrocchi of LA RFC and guided by the expertise of Dr. Warren Bradley, is poised to revolutionise industry practices and have significant implications for the industry.

Dr Warren Bradley, Founder and Head of Elite Performance at Hytro, said: “The study could have major implications for the industry, and I’m very excited about the opportunity we have to work with Lucas Baistrocchi at Rugby LA to achieve this goal. Sports teams must play a fine balancing act during the competitive season, managing athlete’s training volumes to provide a sufficient stimulus to maintain physical capabilities, while prioritising rest and preparation to perform optimally during competition. Hytro BFR may offer a simple and effective solution to bridge that gap.”

“We look forward to partnering with Hytro for our 2024 season,” said Steve Brett, RFCLA Head Coach. “Not only will this partnership support the recovery process for our players, but the research aspect will help our coaching staff ensure we’re keeping our players at their maximum potential.”

Richard Frost, Chief Marketing Officer at Hytro said: “The partnership between Hytro and Rugby LA RFC is exactly the type of collaboration we love – taking our expertise in Performance BFR, and working with the fantastic coaches & athletes in an innovative new franchise, to transform the landscape of rugby training and recovery. We are excited to blend our BFR knowledge with the dynamic athletes at Rugby LA RFC, to create competitive advantage in the sport.”
