Run Mummy Run, the online running community for women, has announced that its Facebook community has exceeded 50,000 members to now reach 52,000 members. It is an incredible milestone for this network for females that is only five years old but which clearly holds a winning formula for countless women across the country.
The rapid growth of the Run Mummy Run community, which welcomes an impressive 70-100 new members each day, is part of a phenomenal success story that just keeps getting better. Earlier this year, Run Mummy Run was voted the Best Online Community at The 2017 Running Awards, and is once again nominated in the same category at The 2018 Running Awards.
More recently, Run Mummy Run has been awarded Women’s Running ‘Influencer of the Year’, which closes the year on a big high for the whole team.
The good news is that the celebrations are set to continue well into the new year, as founder and mum-of-two Leanne Davies has spent recent months co-writing a book that will be released on Amazon in January 2018. Entitled Run Mummy Run: Inspiring Women to Be Fit, Healthy and Happy, the book encapsulates everything that Run Mummy Run is about and is a must-read for any female who runs, whatever their ability.
The book is a real celebration of the community as a whole, bringing together the very best tips and advice from the Run Mummy Run network and providing a comprehensive beginner’s guide for those new to running. From starting out with a Couch to 5K plan, to building up the confidence to do Race for Life and take on longer distances, the book provides practical guides for all levels of runner and is filled with inspiring real-life stories from all types of women.
Kit, nutrition, trainers, health – it’s all here, and the great thing is, it’s the stuff women really want to know. Pulled from the posts and discussions that take place in the safe environment of the closed Facebook group, the Run Mummy Run book discusses women’s issues and topics that some may feel too silly or scared to ask. The book will resonate with any female who runs and is superbly motivational for those with children and a jam-packed schedule.
Running icons Nell McAndrew and Jo Pavey have been quick to endorse the new book, Jo being particularly encouraging and even phoning Leanne personally to congratulate her. “As a busy mum myself, I know how difficult it can be to fit running in around your family and commitments,” commented Jo. “The Run Mummy Run book is an informative and supportive guide, with the perfect combination of practical advice, tips and real-life stories. A really enjoyable read and highly recommended! Run Mummy Run will get you started on your journey to becoming a runner, which will hopefully become a lifelong passion for you”.
As Leanne reads the final proofs of her book, she’s excitedly viewing new kit designs for the Run Mummy Run online merchandise shop, another hugely successful element to Run Mummy Run. With every piece of kit tailored to female runners, and a high degree of precision when it comes to fit, feel and quality, many women proudly sport the colourful Run Mummy Run kit at races across the country. Not only does this provide them with a brilliant way to bond at events, it fuels the growth of the shop and opens the door to future expansion of the range, which is exactly what Leanne is working on now. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
Leanne Davies, Founder of Run Mummy Run, commented, “I am so excited to see how far Run Mummy Run has come since I set up a small Facebook group of three women back in 2012. I am incredibly proud that the community has reached 50,000 members of like-minded women who love running and want to talk about it. I feel very lucky to be doing what is really a dream job – meeting inspirational women, encouraging others to believe in themselves and working with a brilliant designer on the kind of kit I myself would want to wear. In turn, Run Mummy Run has brought me the motivation and encouragement I need to get out there and run, which can be difficult with family commitments but hugely rewarding when I get the chance.
“It is a really exciting time for Run Mummy Run and the release of the book in January will be the icing on the cake. It is dedicated to all the women who have contributed to Run Mummy Run over the years, to make it what it is today, and welcomes any new runners out there who need a little help getting started. The book launch will be a very special start to the new year and I can’t wait to see what else the future holds for Run Mummy Run.”
Leanne will certainly be lacing up her running shoes over the coming months in preparation for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, where Run Mummy Run is offering an exclusive race package for its members. Taking place on 17th-18th March, this professional and friendly event in Cyprus is known for its flat and fast course, warm spring weather and stunning natural scenery. It is the perfect race destination for runners of all abilities and there will doubtless be plenty of Run Mummy Run kit to spot among the field.
