Ruth Daniels has been appointed as the independent chair of the Rounders England board.
Daniels’ role will be focused on leading the oversight of the delivery of the organisation’s vision and strategy, which corresponds well with the new Sport England strategy.
She is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years of experience and has acted for multi-media, technology and sports-related clients in one of the world’s leading law firms.
As a self-confessed ‘sports nut’, Daniels has participated in and been involved in various sports throughout her life and it continues to bring her tremendous challenge and satisfaction.
She has been appointed by Rounders England to lead the board and the organisation because of her strong credentials in shaping strategy and delivering change.
She is particularly interested in the commercial aspects to professional sport, as well as the role it plays in team-work, competition, achievement, self-belief and positive role models, all attributes Rounders England support.
Daniels said: “’I am delighted to be joining the team at Rounders England as they move into the next stage of implementing their strategy, to build on their great achievements to date of increased participation in a fun and accessible sport.”
Alison Howard, CEO of Rounders England said: “Ruth’s appointment as independent chair is the final stage of our governance reforms, which provides a balanced board with the skills and experience to develop our organisation and our sport.
“Here at Rounders England, we are constantly evolving and changing in the pursuit of excellence. To help achieve this, our recruitment processes are about getting the right people, to fit the right posts.”
The responsibility of the Rounders England board is to enhance the performance of the organisation; focusing on strategy, governance, finance and oversight of delivery.
