Sacha Boey joins Under Armour football roster and embraces the cold in Paris

Bayern Munich right-back returns to his roots, giving a defending masterclass to young Parisian athletes putting UA ColdGear technology to the test

Under Armour highlighted its commitment to developing young football athletes and its growing influence in Paris by hosting a display of defensive talent with Bayern Munich right-back Sacha Boey, the brand’s newest athlete, returning to the city that shaped his playing style.

The event was held at Terrain de sport Édouard-Pailleron in the 19th arrondissement, not far from Montreuil, where Sacha grew up. An extension of Under Armour’s FW24 football campaign ‘You Need More Than Strikers To Protect This House’, the event provided a practical showcase for the campaign, aligning hands-on skill development with the brand’s focus on making athletes better and putting a spotlight on defenders and their underdog mindset.

The evening began with an intense ‘defensive masterclass’ led by three local coaches, who worked alongside Under Armour and Sacha Boey to teach essential defensive techniques like body positioning, tackling, and aerial duels. The event’s 1v1 challenge gave the young players an opportunity to test their skills in a competitive showdown against strikers from Under Armour’s UA Next Academy in London, with one Parisian defender ultimately emerging as the winner after multiple rounds of high-stakes competition.

Throughout the night, Sacha was on hand to mentor and inspire the young defenders, embodying Under Armour’s commitment to developing young talent. Reflecting on his journey and partnership with Under Armour, Sacha said: “Joining Under Armour means joining a brand that’s serious about making athletes better. It’s great to be back in Paris, working with young defenders and representing a brand that values hard work. Under Armour is making big moves in football and it’s exciting to be part of that.”

With temperatures well below 10 degrees Celsius, the event perfectly showcased Under Armour’s ColdGear® Baselayer, a key innovation for athletes facing cold conditions. Built to keep players warm and dry without bulk, ColdGear Baselayer enabled the young defenders to stay focused on the game. Its features include:

  • Dual-layer fabric with an ultra-warm, brushed interior and a smooth, fast-drying exterior
  • Stretch-mesh back and underarm panels for strategic ventilation without sacrificing warmth
  • 4-way stretch construction for unrestricted movement
  • Quick-drying, sweat-wicking material
  • Ergonomic design that avoids high-abrasion areas
  • Mock neck construction for added warmth and coverage

Sacha Boey joins a growing line-up of Under Armour football athletes, including other defenders such as Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Lewis Hall (Newcastle), Malick Thiaw (AC Milan), Anna Patten (Aston Villa Women) and Emily Fox (Arsenal Women).
