Gold medallist, Sally Gunnell is set to visit York’s newly relocated independent running shop, Up & Running.
The popular running shop which offers free gait analysis, expert advice and a huge selection of running shoes to suit all runners, has relocated to new premises on Colliergate. To celebrate the move, sporting legend, Sally Gunnell will be visiting the new shop on Saturday, May 21. Sally will take part in a Q&A session alongside Gillian Macfarlane, Owner and Founder of Up & Running, from 5pm before leading a short warm up and guided run around the historic city at 6.30pm.
The move to new premises has allowed for a fresh new look, better layout, more product ranges and an improved customer experience as well as creating an additional sales position at the store. The relocation comes at an exciting time for Up & Running which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The company opened its first shop in Harrogate in 1992, the same year that Sally stormed to victory in 400m hurdles in Barcelona to win gold. Since then, Up & Running has gone from strength-to-strength, growing to 28 stores across the UK, including a further 5 stores across Yorkshire.
Up & Running founder Gillian said, “We’re delighted that Sally is able to visit the new store, she’s such an inspiration and we’re inviting fellow runners to don their trainers for a chance to come and run with such a sporting legend.”
Gillian continued, “We’re incredibly proud of the relocated York store and look forward to welcoming new and existing runners through the door so they can embark on their running journey, or continue it, in comfort.”
There are a number of in-store promotions currently running to mark the opening of Up & Running at 9 Colliergate, York.
