Skins has signed up Michael Vaughan in a bid to make its compression and therapeutic sportswear as popular with UK cricketers as it is with their Australian counterparts.
The three-year ‘strategic association’ with Vaughan will involve the England Test captain undertaking various promotional activities for the Australian company, the first of which will be to conduct a coaching masterclass at Lord’s for the three winners of a consumer competition. The promotion, Skins Sporting Chance, will run in more than 100 sports shops in the UK and Northern Ireland until April 30 and is being supported by extensive in-store publicity material.
Says Vaughan: “There are a number of products like this around, but I’ve found Skins to be the best and most effective. Wearing them during training this winter has helped me improve my fitness and ensure I’m in peak condition for the series against New Zealand and the English season. I also experienced the benefits of Skins when England toured Sri Lanka before Christmas.
“I’ve found that wearing Skins has helped me enormously to improve my fitness and recover a lot more quickly after a long innings. I often sleep in Skins to help me recover and also wear them when travelling. Playing cricket at the top level also involves a lot of long journeys, either on planes or in cars. I feel a lot fresher and fitter after being on the road or long flights if I’ve been wearing my Skins.”
