Sports clubs across the country are calling for more marketeers, accountants and fundraisers to volunteer, a new survey from London 2012 legacy charity Join In has revealed.
Join In’s research shows that 70 per cent of sports clubs need more volunteers, but you don’t need to know the offside rule or the difference between bowls and boccia to help out.
The research, which was commissioned by Join In’s founding partner BT, shows the majority of sports groups need specialist help in order to grow their club.
The biggest gap in the UK is among the money makers, with 63 per cent of clubs needing help with fundraising.
Accountants are also in demand, with 34 per cent of clubs looking for people to help balance the books.
In addition, 40 per cent of clubs are desperately seeking professionals to help write successful grant applications.
Numbers not your thing?
Marketeers can find a place for their skills in sport, as 41 per cent of clubs need help promoting their clubs to new members.
As you’d expect, coaches are highly sought after, with 56 per cent of clubs saying they need more to join their ranks.
Join In connects volunteers in the UK with local sports clubs who need their help.
