World number one squash player Nick Matthew (pictured) has signed a long-term global sponsorship agreement with HI-TEC to endorse the brand’s range of performance squash footwear.
As part of the deal Matthew will be wearing the new HI-TEC S702 squash shoe and will collaborate with the brand to develop a signature shoe.
A whirlwind overseas campaign in the final three months of 2010 saw the 30-year-old Englishman win two Commonwealth Games gold medals, become England’s first world champion and clinch his seventh major World Tour title of the year to return to number one in the men’s world rankings.
“I have used HI-TEC squash shoes since 1999 when I first turned professional and I am thrilled to be joining the world’s number one squash footwear brand,” says Matthew.
“HI-TEC is recognised for producing great squash shoes and the new HI-TEC S702 is no exception – I’m looking forward to even more success with HI-TEC over the next three years and hopefully beyond.”
Simon Bonham, HI-TEC’s global marketing director, adds: “HI-TEC is extremely proud to add yet another world champion and world number one to our stable of players, which already includes the incredibly talented Amr Shabana.
“Our rich history in the sport of squash is matched by our relentless desire and unrivalled passion to ensure we make the very best shoes for all players, whether it be Nick or the squash mad amateur.
“We look forward to having a very close working relationship with Nick in his role as HI-TEC’s global ambassador, player and product developer.”
