Stance, the brand known for turning socks into a statement piece, has announced that it will open the doors of its first retail store outside of the US this November.
The opening of the UK location comes on the heels of the company opening its tenth retail location in the US, and is followed by Stance’s successful foray into two categories – underwear and t-shirts – that have solidified its position globally as a premium basics brand.
Located in Covent Garden, London, the retail space was designed by an in-house team to feel like an extension of the brand’s unique Southern California headquarters where art, innovation and creativity have inspired the brand throughout its eight year history.
The Covent Garden space will feature artwork by a select group of brand ambassadors, – known as Punks & Poets – including murals by Mark Oblow. The space spans two floors, with the retail environment housed on the main floor, and a basement level that is being transformed into a gallery and event space due to open early next year.
Paul Zaengle, Stance’s Executive Vice President of Retail, said: “The UK is the obvious next step for us and we can’t wait to bring our retail experience to loyal customers there and introduce the brand to new ones.
“With 44 million visitors to Covent Garden each year, Neal Street is the ideal location for Stance’s debut international location and we can’t wait to plant deeper roots on English soil.”
Stance’s unique ability to breathe life into basics categories has drawn the brand a large social following, along with high profile collaborations and relationships with household names including Rihanna, NBA MVP James Harden, Big Sean, World Surf League champion John John Florence, rugby’s Billy Vunipola and mountaineer Jimmy Chin.
With multiple awards and accolades for its meticulous approach to product design and development, the cultural energy of the brand is sustained by the quality and function of its products.
