Surfers Against Sewage receives Hydro Flasks 2018 Parks For All Charitable Giving grant

Hydro Flask, the award-winning leader in high-performance, insulated stainless steel flasks and soft good innovations and a Helen of Troy Limited company, has announced the recipients of its 2018 Parks For All charitable giving program.

Parks for All will, for the first time, include a European charity: Surfers Against Sewage. The brand will donate over $374,500 (£300,000/€331,000) in grants to 16 non-profit organisations whose missions align with building, restoring and maintaining public parks and green spaces globally. Combined with the $132,000 (£103,000/€117,000) raised through consumer “Second Sale” events and donations to the Conservation Alliance and other non-profit organisations, Hydro Flask’s 2018 contributions to non-profits total over half a million US dollars.

UK Charity, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), was established in 1990 to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife. The $50,000 [£39,000/€44,000] grant award will be put toward training the SAS regional rep volunteers to better enable them to care for the UK’s coastline. The grant reflects the continuing success of Hydro Flask in the UK with fast-growing sales since its European launch in 2015. Furthermore, it’s an indication that the general British public is moving away from single-use plastic products and toward Hydro Flask’s offering of reusable high quality, insulated bottles for their everyday hydration and hot beverage needs.

Hugo Tagholm, SAS Chief Executive, said: “Surfers Against Sewage is at the forefront of tackling plastic pollution in the UK from source to sea. We’re thrilled to have the support of Hydro Flask’s Parks For All, which will help us continue to engage, inspire and mobilise volunteers on beaches, rivers and city streets to fight the plastic tide.”

Hydro Flask launched its charitable grant and advocacy program Parks For All in January 2017. Parks For All supports the development, maintenance and accessibility of public green spaces in Europe and North America so people everywhere can live healthier, happier and more fulfilled lives.

David Ledouble, Managing Director EMEA – Hydro Flask, said: “We are very excited to make a meaningful contribution to the incredible work done by Surfers Against Sewage as part of building, maintaining and increasing access and education around Parks For All. At Hydro Flask we are inspired by the breadth and depth of work being done by SAS to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife.”
