The ShAFF 2023 trailer has landed

Sheffield Adventure Film Festival has released the 2023 trailer, giving a first look at this year’s films. There is one month to go until the festival, which takes place at the Showroom Cinema, Sheffield from 3-5 March.

Created using a montage of images from this year’s festival films, the trailer is made by Hannah Maia, Director of Maia Media. Now a multi-award winning filmmaker Hannah first entered her films into ShAFF in 2010, winning a prize for new and up-and-coming filmmakers. WATCH the trailer online at the ShAFF YouTube channel share via the ShAFF facebook page, and read more at the ShAFF website.

Filmmaker and festival judge, Hannah Maia says, “I’m really happy to see so many women both in front and behind camera this year, it feels balanced. And the level of storytelling is through the roof. We don’t just get to ogle beautiful adventures, we get to sit back and fully immerse into all of it. When you’ve got such great story telling you don’t have to share an interest in the particular sport or adventure as such, the film is just an interesting and engaging window into someone’s life or a place in the world – and that means there’s more films for us all to enjoy.”

THE BEST NEW ADVENTURE FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
ShAFF is an international film festival receiving hundreds of submissions from filmmakers across the globe. With films from two minutes to feature length, this year’s sessions are carefully curated to challenge expectations and inspire any audience from hardcore climbers to armchair adventurers. Featuring trailblazers around the world, with cold water swimmers breaking the ice, women finding freedom through running in Afghanistan, and young Irish stowaways sneaking to New York, this year’s films include high adrenaline and big tricks, alongside quieter moments of contemplation and revelation.

GO BEYOND THE SCREEN WITH FREE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCES AT THE OUTPOST
Alongside the films the festival hosts a whole weekend of adventurous experiences and activities. Join exhibitors and guest speakers at The Outpost for a series of talks around the campfire. Always with a focus on sustainable adventuring, find out how to repair your outdoor kit, exchange unwanted gear at the kit swap and drop off old kit for upcycling. The Outpost will also feature artwork with film posters made by Sheffield Hallam Uni students and a photography exhibition celebrating Sheffield, The Outdoor City.
