U-turn on School Sports Partnership funding

Education secretary Michael Gove has announced that the School Sports Partnership scheme will continue until at least the end of the current academic year – albeit with significantly reduced funding.

Gove has pledged £47million to ensure the scheme lasts until next summer, as well as a further £65million so schools can release one PE teacher for one day a week from 2011-2013 to promote pupils’ participation in a range of PE and sporting activities.
