Galen Reynolds began running with humble aspirations, with a desire to become generally healthier and fitter after completing his degree and MBA.
Initially unable to run a mile without long breaks, one step at a time eventually lead to an ultra trail running obsession spanning the past seven years. During this time he has ran some of the most iconic ultras in the world, including the UTMB and Montane Tor des Geants where he came second in 2018.
Galen Reynolds, Team Montane Athlete, said: “Montane has been my kit of choice since starting to run. Their functional lightweight gear works for me in the most rugged training and race conditions.I am extremely excited to join the team on the cutting edge of trail running gear.”
Originally from Canada with an ice hockey background, Galen has been able to transfer athletic dexterity into his training regimes, including a mixture of dedication and an upbeat attitude to compete against the world’s best in long mountain ultras.
Terry Stephenson, Montane head of marketing, said: “We are excited to have Galen joining the team. He is a dynamic, exciting runner who seems to revel in the challenge of balancing grit and grace – a vital skill in this sport, and has gleaned him numerous successful finishes. Montane are looking forward to help him achieve even more.”
Galen and his wife own and operate a family business in London, where they live and raise their two children. He is currently leading the 2019 Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race – a five-day, 315km race through Wales with 15,500m of ascent – by 40 minutes going into the final stage.
