Unicorn Products has extended its deal as the official darts equipment provider to the Professional Darts Corporation for a further five years.
Unicorn’s Eclipse Pro dartboard will continue to be used in all competitive matches in the PDC, including all televised tournaments, as well as events on the PDC ProTour and PDC Unicorn Youth Tour.
The company will also continue to support the future stars of darts as the sponsor of the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour and PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship until 2017.
“It’s a pleasure to extend our relationship with Unicorn Products and we thank them for their continued support of the Professional Darts Corporation,” said PDC chairman Barry Hearn.
“They have continued to develop the quality of their products in recent years, and this is epitomised in the use of the Unicorn Eclipse Pro board, which is used in every PDC tournament.
“In addition, Unicorn have played a key role in our introduction of the Youth Tour and World Youth Championship in the past two years, and their ongoing backing for the stars of the future shows their commitment to developing this sport in the long term.
“We are delighted to continue working with them and look forward to an exciting five years for both our partnership and the game as a whole.”
Unicorn produces a full range of darts, training equipment, clothing and accessories, as well as sponsoring a number of leading players, including Phil Taylor, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson.
“We are absolutely delighted to commit to a new long-term agreement with the PDC,” says Edward Lowy, managing director of Unicorn Products.
“This will cement a 20-year relationship for the exclusive supply of Unicorn Eclipse Pro dartboards to the PDC, and there can be no finer endorsement of the enduring quality of Unicorn dartboards than that.
“Equally important, however, is the announcement of Unicorn’s five-year commitment to sponsoring the PDC Youth Tour and World Youth Championship.
“Unicorn has been actively working with Darts Academies around the country since 2006, helping to give younger players properly equipped and supervised locations where they can learn the sport.
“We are very excited to be able to work with the PDC on a long-term basis to underpin youth darts, and are already starting to see PDC Unicorn Youth Tour players rise through the ranks and now establish themselves on the PDC ProTour.
“This announcement shows the strength of the relationship between Unicorn and the PDC, and that we are both committed to the future of darts at both youth and professional level.
“This an incredibly exciting time to be playing darts – whatever your age.”
